About ORVIA

Independent. Evidence-led. Human-centred.

ORVIA is an independent safeguarding, governance and oversight organisation. We look at what happened, gather the evidence, and set it out clearly — so families, providers and public bodies can act on facts, not assumptions.

Who we are

Why ORVIA exists

ORVIA didn't start as a business plan. It started with what happens when a family tries to safeguard someone they love and gets pushed between procedures, duties and “Data Protection” myths instead of being helped.

ORVIA was founded by John McGill, drawing on more than 22 years of leadership across health and social care. ORVIA is a veteran-founded and veteran-led organisation, and that background shapes how we work: calm under pressure, evidence first, and a duty of care that doesn't switch off.

We're not a regulator, an inspectorate, a legal firm or a consultancy. We're an independent voice that looks honestly at what's happening and helps people act on it.

JM
“I built the organisation I wish those families had been able to call. Not to take sides — to look honestly, gather the evidence, and help people be heard.”

What we stand for

What we stand for

Independent

We hold no contracts with the organisations we examine, and no commercial interest in the outcome.

Evidence-led

Not opinions. Not assumptions. Evidence — sourced, structured, and defensible.

Human-centred

Behind every case is a person. Behind every review is a life.

For everyone

Every family, every child, every professional — regardless of race, faith, sexuality, gender identity, disability, or family shape.

We hold others accountable. We hold ourselves to the same standard.

Safeguarding is for everyone.

We apply the same rigour, care, and confidentiality to every family we work with — without exception. Equality is not a section on our website. It is how we work.
